‘Rescued hearts’ live vases
‘Rescued hearts’ live vases
These are one of my art show patrons’ favorite items! I can never keep them in stock.
I call these little dry/live vases “rescued hearts” because they’re made from offcuts of the gorgeous hardwoods I work with, including tropical species that grow here in South Florida where I live and work. I embellish them with carvings and metal patina. I tend to make whatever shape I can while maximizing the available scrap. Wood waste from my shop becomes mulch and compost in my yard.
Living air plants are displayed in some of the vases. If you’d like, you can purchase them as well. I’ll send the best I have on hand. These are also “rescued” from a neighborhood greenspace where they get mowed over after they fall during storms. Most come attached to the cypress branch on which they grew.
Specify the vases you want in your order, identifying from 1-7 starting from bottom left. 1-2: Cuban mahogany hearts; 3-4: Brazilian cherry hearts; 5: royal poinciana Grecian vessel vase ; 6-7: maple hearts.
