This fraternal pair of winged bowls are cut from a single log of heavily spalted Norfolk Island pine. Each piece was turned independently, and carved and textured feet were added later. A branch is beautifully preserved in one of the wings, with distinctive knots elsewhere. This wood normally has a creamy color but the spalting process has infused it with stunning patterns that reveal in different ways depending on the angle of cut. The “live edge” of the tree trunk is preserved on the sides of these bowls. Each is 19” long with a 6” bowl. The live-edge width goes from 7 to 9 inches and they stand 3” tall. The hardwax oil finish is nontoxic and food safe.
